LAD402 – Ministerial Craftmanship
Book Review – Marianne Willamson – Illuminata
I have downloaded both the Apple book and the audiobook. The audiobook only has the daily prayers. Not the AMAZING paragraphs and pages that preceded them. Hearing them read by Marianne Williamson does not do them justice. My first thought was, how cool would it be to hear them read by her? I was disappointed, actually. I would never take one and use it in a service or memorial. Even though they are from MW, they feel very traditional and begging an outside entity. For this reader/listener, the real nuggets of inspiration are the sections that preceded all the prayers. They are not read in the audiobook. I spent more time in those paragraphs than in the prayers themselves. I would guess that if someone was not already trained in new through prayer and the five steps we follow, you might have a different opinion, but I did not care for them.
I have been a Marianne Williamson fan for a long time and have many of her books. I really dug in when I started studying A Course In Miracles many years ago. A Return to Love is a book that I read with my sponsees after they had finished their steps.
Knowing that she is also a sober woman gives her that much more street cred for this student. There is something that comes along with getting sober and a spiritual leader that I can only hope to carry forward in some capacity in my own ministry.
